Charge air cooler has a major contribution in Diesel engine’s efficiency by improving the volumetric efficiency by increasing air charge density through isochoric cooling and improving its temperature.
Charge air cooler is used to cool engine air after it has passed through a turbo charger but before it enter the engine. Charge air cooler is also applicable to supercharger.
